Curtis Granderson suffered a chipped tooth on a slide in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game, but remained in the contest.

Granderson was hurt when his helmet came off and hit him in the mouth as he was performing a head-first slide into second. He'll likely be available off the bench in Game 6 after a dental appointment.

Jose Altuve is set to return to second base on Thursday after DHing for a second straight game Wednesday.

Altuve is bothered by a sore right knee. With Altuve DHing, the Astros have used Tony Kemp in left field and Marwin Gonzalez at second base the last two days. Tyler White has been sent to the bench.

David Price will be available to pitch in relief in Wednesday's Game 4, manager Alex Cora said.

Price could start Friday if he doesn't pitch tonight. It's possible he could pitch out of the pen for the rest of the series, depending on how things work out. Chris Sale appears likely to start Game 6, and Nathan Eovaldi, who has been more impressive than Price of late, would be available to work in Game 7 on normal rest.

Chris Sale will not start Thursday's ALCS Game 5 after spending time in the hospital with an illness.

It sounds like Sale will be good for Saturday's Game 6, but he's too weak to pitch Thursday. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Joe Kelly, Eduardo Rodriguez and David Price are possibilities to start Game 5. Price would be on three days' rest after starting Game 2.
Oct 17 - 6:14 PM

Game 5 starter Wade Miley was pulled after a leadoff walk Wednesday, but he's now slated to start Game 6, according to the Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

The Brewers apparently decided before the game that this would be a bullpen day. Miley faced the left-handed Cody Bellinger to start the game and now he'll have a real start on Friday.

Rafael Devers and Brock Holt are in the starting lineup for Wednesday's Game 4 against the Astros.

It seemed likely that they would be against right-hander Charlie Morton. As per usual, the Red Sox will start off with Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, J.D. Martinez and Xander Bogaerts. Devers gets the nod at third base and in the fifth spot, followed by Steve Pearce, Holt, Christian Vazquez and Jackie Bradley Jr.

The Astros have Alex Bregman leading off in Wednesday's ALCS Game 4 against the Red Sox.

It's a curious call, given that the goal would seem to be to have runners on base for Bregman. Still, it will take advantage of his OBP and it might get him an extra at-bat in the end. Here's the entire lineup: 3B Bregman, CF George Springer, DH Jose Altuve, 2B Marwin Gonzalez, 1B Yuli Gurriel, RF Josh Reddick, SS Carlos Correa, C Martin Maldonado and LF Tony Kemp.

Major League Baseball has fined Manny Machado an undisclosed amount for the way he ran into Jesus Aguilar in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday.

Machado appeared to intentionally drag his left foot across Aguilar's right leg at first base following a routine groundout in the bottom of the 10th inning, and the resulting argument set off a short-lived benches-clearing dustup. A number of Brewers expressed anger about the play after the game, and there could very well be some kind of carryover into Game 5 of the NLCS on Wednesday. Machado will not be suspended by MLB for the act.
