UMass sophomore WR Jessie Britt will transfer.

Britt (5'10/205) wraps his truncated season with the Minutemen having caught 11 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. His departure will serve as a depth blow, but shouldn't cause seismic ripples in the receiving corp. Should Britt transfer within the FBS, he will be required to sit out the 2019 campaign to satisfy NCAA regulations.

Former USC WR Joseph Lewis pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge and was sentenced to one year in prison.

Lewis will additionally face five years of probation and will be required to attend 52 domestic violence prevention classes. This punishment was doled out in relation to the former five-star recruit's mid-July arrest on suspicion of punching, scratching and strangling his girlfriend, that arrest coming just days after he had served 21 days in jail on a pair of previous domestic battery charges. We imagine his football career is almost certainly over at this juncture.

Louisville sophomore TE Kemari Averett has been indefinitely suspended following his Monday night arrest on charges of first-degree wonton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.

According to the police citation, Averett was studying at his girlfriend's house and forgot his backpack when he left to return to his apartment. She brought it over to him, but after he saw that his laptop wasn't in the bag, he became immediately aggressive, putting a gun to her temple and saying, "[expletive], I will kill you." He also reportedly made threats about sending people to find her. Averett pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, with his next court appearance scheduled for Oct. 26. He's started four of six games for this year's wayward Cardinals team.

Ohio State junior DE Jonathon Cooper (head) has been medically cleared for Saturday's game against Purdue.

Cooper (6'3/238) did not play in Saturday's game against Minnesota. He was put through the concussion protocol after sustaining a head injury versus Indiana the previous weekend. Prior to sustaining that injury, the junior lineman had registered eight tackles (3.0 for loss) with one sack on the campaign. Assuming a smooth remainder to the practice week, Cooper figures to be good to go against the Boilermakers on Saturday.

Alabama HC Nick Saban said that junior DL Raekwon Davis will lose playing time after throwing punches at Missouri OL Kevin Pendleton on Saturday.

Davis (6'7/316) unleashed a trio of body blows to Pendleton while the latter was on the ground during Saturday's win. Saban said that he's spoken with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and that discipline will be handled internally. Just how much Davis' playing time will be curtailed, or for how long, is not quite clear. Alabama plays Tennessee on Saturday.

Georgia HC Kirby Smart said that sophomore RB D'Andre Swift is dealing with ankle sprain and/or contusion.

Smart told reporters that the team is hopeful that Swift will be available for practice action later this week. The Bulldogs are currently off on bye, affording the sophomore back plenty of time to get healthy before an Oct. 27 date with Florida.

Arkansas redshirt junior QB Ty Storey (undisclosed) practiced on Tuesday.

Storey (6'2/215) was forced out of Saturday's loss to Ole Miss, but there's been no indication that that was anything more than a precautionary move. He should be ready to go against Tulsa upcoming unless he runs into a setback.
Oct 16 - 7:35 PM

Alabama sophomore WR Devonta Smith (leg) did not run during Tuesday's practice.

Smith (6'1/173) was present, but was very much limited during the open media window on Tuesday, catching passes while stationary and keeping his movements to a minimum. The sophomore wideout pulled a muscle in his leg in Saturday's win over Missouri, with Tide HC Nick Saban saying after the contest that he would be "day-to-day" this week. We'll have a better idea if Smith can play against Tennessee this coming weekend once we're on the back-end of the practice week.
