Kyrie Irving hit just 2-of-14 shots for seven points in Tuesday's season-opener against the 76ers.

We were expecting some rust, but not this much. Irving was 0-of-8 from the field in the first half, but looked more like himself after the break. The good news is he salvaged his line with seven assists, four rebounds and a triple. Terry Rozier did close this game over Kyrie, but the Celtics did have a double-digit lead at the time. We won't overreact to one bad game, but it's fair to expect some duds from Kyrie since he's coming off a lengthy knee injury and because the Celtics are so deep this year. He'll get a few days off to prepare for a bounce-back effort vs. Toronto on Friday.

Brandon Ingram will be the Lakers' starting point guard for Monday's game against the Warriors with both Rajon Rondo (hand) and Lonzo Ball (ankle) unavailable.

Luke Walton said that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma and Tyson Chandler will remain with the first unit tonight, but wouldn't say who the fifth starter will be. He hinted that Josh Hart and Svi Mykhailiuk are being discussed, but we'd lean towards him going with Hart given his previous experience with the starting unit. Ingram will be tasked with increased playmaking responsibilities today and is worth a look in DFS.

Rajon Rondo (hand) was able to go through some 4-on-4 work with the Lakers' assistant coaches and staffers on Monday.

Rondo reportedly looked good while going through the 4-on-4 scrimmage, and didn't appear to be all that limited, so this is a positive development. He was initially hit with a 4-5 week timetable back on Dec. 28, but with Lonzo Ball (ankle) going down for the next 4-6 weeks, that could give Rondo some extra incentive to ramp up his recovery. He's hopeful to make it back to the court before February, so he could be someone to start thinking about stashing in deep leagues.
Jan 21 - 2:36 PM

Bruno Caboclo will sign a 10-day contract with the Grizzlies.

He's back! Caboclo flopped in Toronto, but the 23-year-old is finally showing some progress and is averaging 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 3.0 blocks and 2.4 triples in the G-League. The Grizzlies could be on the verge of a complete rebuild, making Caboclo a name to watch in very deep leagues or in dynasty formats.
Jan 21 - 2:15 PM

Luke Kornet (sprained left ankle) will not return on Monday vs. the Thunder.

He started this game and played seven minutes in the first half with two points, one rebound and a steal. Coach David Fizdale said getting Kornet and Mitchell Robinson minutes over Enes Kanter is a "priority," so fantasy owners should try to be patient here since he's coming off two excellent showings.
Jan 21 - 1:54 PM

Deandre Ayton (left ankle sprain) and Richaun Holmes (foot) are questionable for Tuesday vs. the Wolves.

Both players are day-to-day after missing Sunday's game vs. the Wolves, but there's not much of an update here. Dragan Bender actually played well on Sunday in their absence, scoring 12 points on 4-of-10 shots with 10 rebounds, two assists and a block, but he missed all five of his triples.
Jan 21 - 1:48 PM

Aaron Gordon (sore lower back) will not play vs. the Hawks on Monday.

That's two straight games on the shelf, but he did have a questionable tag which likely means he's day-to-day. Jonathon Simmons moved back into the rotation last game with 10 points, three assists, two boards and two triples in 19 minutes, and it will be interesting to see if Jonathan Isaac can get something going on the offensive end.
Jan 21 - 1:32 PM

Andre Drummond is still in the concussion protocol.

He's out for Monday's game vs. the Wizards, his second straight contest on the shelf. Concussions are tricky and there's no telling if he will be ready for Wednesday. Zaza Pachulia could get a lot of burn after playing 35 minutes vs. the Kings with seven points, 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. If the Wizards go small, Blake Griffin could see extended time at the five as well.
Jan 21 - 12:41 PM

Marcus Smart will not be suspended for his actions on Saturday vs. Atlanta.

He got into an altercation with DeAndre Bembry and did not leave the court in a "timely manner," but he'll walk away with a $35,000 fine instead of a suspension. With top-60 value in standard leagues in January, deploy him like you normally would.
Jan 21 - 12:06 PM

Enes Kanter is expected to be the third-string center on Monday vs. the Thunder.

When asked about Kanter's role, coach David Fizdale reiterated that getting Luke Kornet and Mitchell Robinson minutes is a "priority." Fizdale added that the game flow will dictate whether or not Kanter gets to play, but it's becoming very clear that his days as a Knick are numbered.
Jan 21 - 11:01 AM

Gordon Hayward (personal) is not listed on Boston’s injury report for Monday.

Hayward missed Saturday’s game but this indicates he’ll return to action vs. the Heat in Miami. It can't hurt to double-check the injury report prior to this game's 6pm ET tip-off, on what will be a very busy Monday in the NBA.
Jan 21 - 12:21 AM

Tristan Thompson (sore left foot) is listed out for Monday's game vs. Chicago.

That's three straight DNPs for Thompson, and it means Ante Zizic should have another big night ahead of him in the scoring and rebounding departments -- especially vs. the Bulls frontcourt. We'll consider Thompson day-to-day even though he keeps getting ruled out early and has little incentive to play for a tanking team.
